DRY SLOPE RACING
Will has trained and raced at Norfolk Snowsports Club since he was 6 years old. He still trains and competes there regularly. For several years Will and, his brother, Luke attended the Saturday morning junior club. Luke and Will were spotted by Andy Hood, the then race team head coach, and were encouraged to join the race training sessions. Norfolk has one of the biggest clubs in terms of members and coaches in the country and regularly hosts some of the most prestigious events. Will still takes part in the Eastern Region Ski Association Race League and Championships as well as the All England and British Dry Slope Championships. His dry slope competing will now inevitably take more of a back seat, as his freestyle : moguls, and park and pipe commitments extend. He will still continue to race train at Norfolk Snowsports Club, and compete where possible.
ALPINE RACING
Will has trained with the British Ski Academy (BSA) based in Les Houches near Chamonix for around 12 weeks each Winter since he was 8 years old. Head coach, Malcolm Erksine, first saw Will ski at a BSA race camp held at Norfolk Snowsports Club.
The BSA training programme has given Will a huge boost and certainly seen steady improvement in his racing over the years. It is hard work with several hours training each weekday morning followed by school in the afternoon. BSA liaise with Will’s home school (Fakenham Academy) so that he is tutored through the same academic syllabus he would be doing at home. Then its on to fitness training and ski prep! Saturday is a day off and Sunday is schooling all day to ensure the correct number of hours are committed to schooling. Will races throughout the season in Europe and he has achieved many podium and top 10 positions. He was selected as a member of the England Alpine Junior Development Squad for 2013/2014.
SKIER CROSS
Will competed in the 2013 British Skiercross Championships in Tignes. This was his first serious attempt at the sport. He won his age category and posted the fourth fastest qualifying time over all categories. His older brother, Luke, took second place! In 2014, he again competed at Tignes, achieving a silver medal in the Youth category.
He has since competed indoors as well as on the dry slope. As a blend of racing, freestyle and all-
